Interview with DJ Persuade
So I just had a chance to sit down with DJ Persuade and ask him some questions.
Field Of Noise: I just wanted to say thanks for taking time out of your day to talk with us
DJ Persuade: of course. thank you m8 it was fun
Field Of Noise: so how did you get into Electronic music?
DJ Persuade: my first "rave" out here in Utah. It was called sequence 6 back in 06. I had told myself that one day that WILL be me. I have ALWAYS wanted to DJ. But that rave just did it for me it was the best time of my life
Field Of Noise: what kind of music did you grow up listening to?
DJ Persuade: all kinds man, I used to be huge into rock/punk..Then I went into the rap phase for a very small time. Then I had heard a couple EDM tracks and then I drifted off from there and have never returned to "the dark side". lol I call hip hop/mainstream/top 40 the dark side. I’ll NEVER play that stuff.
Field Of Noise: So how was it growing up in Salt Lake?
DJ Persuade: growing up in Salt Lake was great. I loved it. But I’m a Cali boy now.. I miss it so much. Especially with the style of music I play. growing up I was listening to Paul Oakenfold, Paul van dyke, Armin Van Buuren, dirty south, Erick Morillo, Steve Angelo, Mario Ochoa, Tiesto.. Now I have a totally different taste.
Field Of Noise: So what happened after High school?
DJ Persuade:I grew up in Salt Lake til I graduated high school in 07. Then I moved to Cali on a baseball scholarship to Play. I Played for one year then moved directly to Santa Barbara from there.
Field Of Noise: nice did you DJ in SB?
DJ Persuade: I sure did.. I had a weekly residency at this club called EOS. I also played at Statement, Stateside, Sharkeez, Sandbar, Tonic, and I played NUMEROUS parties in IV. We used to rock those parties. My homie DJ MACKLE had the best sound system out there; we would literally rock the house.
Field Of Noise: so how is the scene out in Salt Lake?
DJ Persuade: it’s amazing bro. seriously amazing... This production company called V2-events throws massives. Get lucky is the next event, next weekend, with Calvin Harris, Harvard bass, Tommie Sunshine, etc. then laidback Luke is coming, Wolfgang Gartner, afrojack, and many more.
Field Of Noise: who was or is one of the most influential DJs to you?
DJ Persuade: This is going to be a tough one... but I would honestly say Steve Angelo. I have always loved the man’s music. he has such a great sound. a local artist that has always pushed me harder than ever to be at the top is Brian Blurr, a resident here in SLC. I’ve always been into Erick Morillo and Mario Ochoa as well.
Field Of Noise: If you could work with anyone who would it be and why?
DJ Persuade: I want to be working with Anthony Ross; the guy’s music is sheer awesome. He has such an amazing ear. And we have super similar taste.
Field Of Noise: so what can your fans expect from you this spring and summer?
DJ Persuade: Hopefully playing out my own fully produced tracks/remixes. Mixes bi-weekly, and a lot more gigs.
Field Of Noise: Well I would like to thank DJ Persuade for his time.
